Mother Marianne, who correctly prophesied that none of the Franciscan Sisters would ever come down with leprosy, died in 1918 at the age of 80. She had spent the last 34 years of her life caring for the lepers in Hawaii, 30 of them in the western district of the Kalaupapa peninsula on Molokai.  more |
